LNB Round 2: Caneros edge Indios by three points

There were only 2 rounds played so far and it's still very beginning of the Regular Season in LNB. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most exciting game of round 2 in the LNB took place in La Romana. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of Indios to Caneros 95-92 on Tuesday evening. Caneros made 21-of-24 free shots (87.5 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was American guard Tyree Crump (185-1997, college: Georgia, agency: Interperformances) who scored 24 points, 9 rebounds and 9 assists. The other American import forward Cornelius Hudson (200-1993, college: Wake Forest) chipped in 21 points and 4 assists. American power forward Sterling Manley (211-1998, college: UNC) produced 20 points and 9 rebounds for the guests. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Caneros are looking forward to face Soles in Santo Domingo in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Indios will play at home against Metros and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

American forward Cornelius Hudson (200-1993, college: Wake Forest) orchestrated the victory by scoring 24 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Brayan Martinez contributed with 21 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. point guard Jaison Valdez (188-1995) replied with 25 points and 6 assists for Leones. Leones' coach Julio Duquela rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Caneros will play against Soles in Santo Domingo in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Leones will play on the road against Marineros in Puerto Plata and hope to get back on the winning track.
The game in Santiago was also quite interesting. Leones played at the court of Metros. Leones defeated Metros 112-97 on Tuesday. Jaison Valdez had a double-double by scoring 20 points, 10 rebounds and 8 assists to lead the charge for the winners. Trevon Duval responded with 27 points. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Leones will meet Marineros in the next round. Metros will play against Titanes and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Rest of the games of round 2 were quite predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are:
winless Marineros were defeated by Soles in Santo Domingo 87-73. Reales beat Titanes at home 104-94. Reales destroyed Indios on the opponent's court 114-86. Titanes outscored Marineros in a home game 117-89. Metros recorded a loss to Soles on the road 94-84.
The best stats of 2nd round was 33 points (!!!) and 10 rebounds by Emmitt Williams of Metros.




Metros - Leones 97-112

The game in Santiago was also quite interesting. Leones played at the court of Metros. Leones defeated Metros 112-97 on Tuesday. Leones looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Point guard Jaison Valdez (188-1995) had a double-double by scoring 20 points, 10 rebounds and 8 assists to lead the charge for the winners and American Nick Faust (198-1993, college: LBSU) chipped in 26 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. Four Leones players scored in double figures. American guard Trevon Duval (190-1998, college: Duke) responded with 27 points and his fellow American import forward Emmitt Williams (198-1998, college: LSU) produced a double-double by scoring 16 points, 14 rebounds and 4 blocks. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Leones will meet Marineros in the next round. Metros will play against Titanes and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Caneros - Indios 95-92

There was no surprise in Santo Domingo where Marineros were defeated by Soles 87-73 on Wednesday. Forward Anyeuri Castillo (201-1997, college: USC Aiken) had a double-double by scoring 23 points and 11 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and naturalized American Gerardo Suero (196-1989, college: Albany) chipped in 22 points and 7 rebounds (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!) during the contest. Naturalized American point guard Manny Quezada (188-1985, college: USF) responded with 21 points, 5 assists and 4 steals and American forward Sam Thompson (200-1992, college: Ohio St.) scored 13 points and 9 rebounds. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Soles will meet Caneros in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Marineros will play against Leones and hope to win that game.

No shocking result in a game in La Vega where Reales defeated Titanes 104-94 on Wednesday. Reales made 20-of-25 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. American guard Jordan Goldwire (188-1999, college: Oklahoma) scored 31 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import forward Raphiael Putney (207-1990, college: UMass) chipped in 26 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists during the contest. Five Reales players scored in double figures. Reales' coach Ricardo Daniel Maffei used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Swingman Jassel Perez (195-2001) responded with 33 points (!!!), 6 rebounds and 4 assists and American Jaelyn Johnson-Coston (198-1993, college: FMU) scored 18 points and 7 rebounds.
